I’m a dedicated .NET developer with a diverse background in physiotherapy and academic mentoring.
I graduated with a degree in physiotherapy, after accepting a band 5 role in my local hospital in the vascular surgery ward, with no band 6 or 7 I found the pressure and responsibility of the high stakes ward demoralizing, I quickly knew that this wasn’t the career for me. While exploring careers I took on a role as an academic mentor, I enjoy learning and mentoring, however I found that I missed communicating with peers and co-workers and the feeling of being in a team.
I have always had an interest in computers with a lifelong hobby of playing computer games, something that I inherited from my dad. My friends mentioned that maybe I should try programming, with some of them being programmers themselves. I started with C# courses while applying for junior roles. When I was given the opportunity at Web Labs I felt extremely lucky, I finally felt that I had found what I was looking for. My joy had also spilled into my personal life, and I found myself pregnant with my firstborn.
I initially had planned to return to work after my maternity leave, but because of a medical condition my son had as a newborn, we could not afford the additional support needed for his childcare, therefore I had to regretfully resign so that I could care for him full time.
During this time, I have been maintaining my learning by studying multiple Udemy courses, including C#, .Net, and SQL, as well as working on this website and the wordsearch project. I have had another son to complete my family, now my first is recovered and my second is old enough, I’m keen to return to work and pursue my career. I am seeking to find somewhere with a team environment where I will be able to grow and flourish.
